A Weekend Camping Near Aysgarth, North Yorkshire

What better way to spend a rare sunny weekend in Yorkshire than camping with friends and dog in the Yorkshire Dales near Aysgarth? Since I couldn’t think of any other way that’s exactly what we spent the weekend doing and as you’ll see from the photos we had a fantastic time! And Billy, our dog, turned out to be the perfect camping companion. Chilled out and enjoying hanging around with great people (and me). 🙂

Cornwall 2012

Having been to Cornwall a couple of years ago we thought it was time to go back. We spent a week staying near St Austell and our mission was to ensure our new dog Billy was as tired as possible at the end of every day. This meant visiting sandy beaches he could run along. I think you’ll agree: mission accomplished!

Snowboarding, Morzine, 2012

Regular readers may recall I went on a friend’s stag do snowboarding way back in 2009 and that I had a fantastic (but knackering) time. It was such a great laugh that 6 of us went again to Morzine in France (about an hour from Geneva) and, it won’t surprise you to hear, I took a few photos!

Europe has seen some incredible snowfall this season but also some startling low temperatures – certainly the coldest I’ve boarded in. However the conditions will still superb and a great time was had by all. Enjoy the photos! 🙂

Sunshine In North Wales

Always nice to take a trip to North Wales to visit our friends Ben and Anna. Every time we’ve gone it’s been beautifully sunny so I just assume that’s what it’s like all the time. I have no evidence to the contrary!

St Andrews, A Trip Down Memory Lane

I spent a good few years of my life going to school in St Andrews so took a trip up to meet old friends and wander around. It was incredibly foggy but that just made it more atmospheric!

Jamie Oliver’s 30 Minute Meals

I was having a look through some recent photos taken on my phone and noticed a pattern. Just recently we’ve been cooking a lot of meals from the latest Jamie Oliver book ‘Jamie’s 30-Minute Meals‘ (almost all of it delicious) and I’ve gotten into the habit of photographing our creations.

The idea is you can cook a 3 course meal in just 30 minutes. You see him do it on TV but the reality, as it turns out, is a little bit trickier. You need a good sized kitchen, everything laid out in advance and you don’t tidy up as you go. But with practise it can be done. Anyway, enjoy!

Growing Our Own Veg – Year Two

After our successes growing our own veg last year we decided this time to take it to another level. We bought a greenhouse and created a few more raised beds so that we could grow strawberries, salad (too many types to list), cucumbers, peppers, aubergines, tomatoes, courgettes, sweetcorn, peas, mange tout, carrots, onions, beetroots, raspberries, potatoes and probably some more things I can’t remember right now. Basically, moving our growing operations up a step! And if you’ve got any veg growing tips then let me know!

The Return Of The Return To The Isle Of Arran

Having been to the Isle of Arran a couple of times before (here and then here) we had a couple of weeks holiday and decided to spend one of them returning to our spiritual home. We’ve always been blessed with perfect sunny weather when we’ve visited in the past and this year was no exception. Arran is an island an hour’s ferry ride from the mainland on the west coast of Scotland and is a great place to chill out on sandy beaches, hike up challenging mountains, bike around miles of forest tracks, sit in cafes and enjoy fine dining. When my lottery win comes in we’ll buy a house there in a shot! As usual I took a few photos…
